Oyin Lewis Foundation: Maternal Health Advocacy

At the Oyin Lewis Foundation, we are dedicated to improving maternal health by educating and providing financial support for births, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) babies, postpartum recovery, and aftercare for mothers. Our mission is to create a safer and more supportive journey for mothers and their babies, especially in Africa, where the need is most critical.

Why Maternal Health in Africa?

Africa bears a disproportionate burden of maternal and neonatal mortality. According to the World Health Organization (WHO):

Approximately 200,000 women in Africa die from pregnancy-related causes annually, accounting for nearly 68% of global maternal deaths.

Neonatal mortality rates in sub-Saharan Africa are the highest in the world, with approximately 27 deaths per 1,000 live births.

These statistics highlight the urgent need for targeted interventions to support mothers and babies.

How We Fund Change

Our foundation is fueled by a shared commitment to maternal health:

1% of every dress sold through our womenswear brand directly supports this cause.

Additional funding comes from donations and grants provided by individuals and organizations aligned with our mission.

Strategic Impact

Funds are disbursed quarterly to communities based on assessed needs. Whether it’s funding NICU facilities, providing postpartum care packages, or supporting mothers through educational initiatives, every contribution is purposefully allocated to areas where it can make the most significant impact.

Together, we can empower mothers and give every baby a chance at life.
